The NHL Global Series live from Sweden highlights the NHL Games of the Week
Saturday, November 8th – 10:00 pm Eastern – SiriusXM 91
Colorado Avalanche at Edmonton Oilers
Are the Avalanche the best team right now in the National Hockey League? A convincing case can be made, but remember it’s only the second week in November. Colorado will be one of the top three teams in the contentious Central Division by the time all the dust settles. Can the same be said about the Oilers, who, of course, have been to the Stanley Cup Final the past two seasons? They had their customary slow start in October, and have been playing just over .500 hockey recently.
Sunday, November 9th – 7:00 pm Eastern – SiriusXM 91
Carolina Hurricanes at Toronto Maple Leafs
A rare Sunday game in Toronto, as the Maple Leafs host the Hurricanes in the Hockey Hall of Fame Game. Both teams playing tonight are expected to be in the top three in their respective divisions by the time the playoffs roll around this April. Toronto has been inconsistent out of the gate, though they have played better recently, and are still within a few points of first place in the Atlantic Division. Same thing with the Canes in the Metropolitan Division.
Monday, November 10th – 10:00 pm Eastern – SiriusXM 91
Florida Panthers at Vegas Golden Knights
It’s a battle of the past two (three) Stanley Cup Champions, and a rematch of the 2023 Stanley Cup Final. This time around, the defending Cup champion Panthers find themselves involved in a real battle already for a playoff spot in the suddenly competitive Eastern Conference. Would you bet against them? The Golden Knights have fared a bit better out of the gate, and you wouldn’t bet against them either, would you?
Tuesday, November 11th – 10:00 pm Eastern – SiriusXM 91
Winnipeg Jets at Vancouver Canucks
Here comes the Jets. After failing to win on the road in the playoffs this past Spring, Winnipeg are back to its regular-season winning ways. No, they may not lead the league against with 116 points after 82 games, but they’ll be one of 16 teams still standing come mid-April. After that…it remains to be seen. The Canucks missed the Western Conference playoff cut by six points last season, and after 14 games this time around, they were playing .500 hockey. They’ll have to do better than that in order to book a spot in the 2026 Stanley Cup Playoffs, instead of an early April tee time. Vancouver has had to contend with a ton of player injuries already this season.
Wednesday, November 12th – 9:30 pm Eastern – SiriusXM 91
New Jersey Devils at Chicago Blackhawks
Hail The New Guard! Okay, the Devils aren’t all that new, so to speak, but if superstar forward Jack Hughes stays healthy, this can be a dangerous team. They went from 112 points to 81 points to 91 points over the past three regular seasons. Will the real Devils please stand up? Tonight, they visit a Chicago team that hasn’t seen the postseason since the 2020 Covid season. Young phenom Connor Bedard has helped this season, and the young Hawks are already winning games they would have lost this time last year.
Thursday, November 13th – 7:00 pm Eastern – SiriusXM 91
Washington Capitals at Florida Panthers
It’s been a bit of a struggle for the Capitals to light the lamp so far this campaign, though their defensive game remains as strong as ever. Legendary sniper Alex Ovechkin recently scored his 900th career regular-season goal, the only player to ever reach this lofty plateau. Tonight, the Caps face a Panthers squad that has been to the last three Stanley Cup Finals (and won the last two). Fatigue at some point has to be a factor for the Cats; same with the injuries to key players (Barkov and Tkachuk).
Friday, November 14th – 2:00 pm Eastern – SiriusXM 91
Pittsburgh Penguins vs. Nashville Predators
The NHL Global Series goes this afternoon from Stockholm, Sweden (the first of two games). It features a surprising Penguins team versus a still underperforming Predators lineup. Pittsburgh are battling for a playoff spot early this season, while Nashville are looking to reverse its lack of fortune from last year.
