Washington heads to Anaheim + more NHL Games of the Week

NHL
ANAHEIM, CALIFORNIA - MARCH 11: Alex Ovechkin #8 of the Washington Capitals looks on during the first period of a game against the Anaheim Ducks at Honda Center on March 11, 2025 in Anaheim, California.

Saturday, November 29th – 2:00 pm Eastern – SiriusXM 91
Tampa Bay Lightning at New York Rangers

They’re finally beginning to win a few games on home ice, and just in time for the Rangers, as the Eastern Conference is wide open as we leave the month of November. A team can be in first place one week, and then after a quick dry spell, find themselves on the outside looking in. New York faces a visiting Tampa Bay team that still can ice an impressive roster of future Hall of Famers, and is one of the many teams in the mix for the top spot in the Atlantic Division.

Sunday, November 30th – 3:30 pm Eastern – SiriusXM 91
Anaheim Ducks at Chicago Blackhawks

Can two of the young, exciting teams in the NHL both grab a Western Conference playoff spot this season? It’ll be tough, but both clubs are definitely headed in the right direction. So even a mid-afternoon game on the last day in November looms rather large on the schedule, because these two teams could very well be battling for one of the Western wildcard spots come April. Then again, the Ducks have been battling for top spot in the Pacific Division…they may have loftier pursuits on their minds.

Monday, December 1st – 10:00 pm Eastern – SiriusXM 91
Utah Mammoth at San Jose Sharks

We enter a brand-new month with two more entertaining young teams going at it late on a Monday night. The Mammoth want to make the playoffs this season; the Sharks are just supposed to be happy with getting better this season, yet here they are winning games that most of us didn’t expect them to win. And amongst the impressive roster of up-and-coming young Sharks, forward Macklin Celebrini is competing for the Art Ross Trophy and the Hart Memorial Trophy. And he’s still a teenager for another six months. And you say you don’t want your team to rebuild…

Tuesday, December 2nd – 7:30 pm Eastern – SiriusXM 91
Toronto Maple Leafs at Florida Panthers

The underachieving Maple Leafs finally have some of their top players back from injury, and a bunch of games away from home could bring this team together. They face a Panthers team that punted them out of the playoffs this past May en route to the Cats’ second straight Stanley Cup. Florida has also not had a memorable first quarter of the 2025-26 regular season, in large part due to the loss of two key players (Barkov and Tkachuk) and understandable fatigue after participating in the past three Stanley Cup Finals.

Wednesday, December 3rd – 7:30 pm Eastern – SiriusXM 167
Winnipeg Jets at Montreal Canadiens

The Jets have cooled their jets a bit recently, and the loss of Hart Trophy-winning goaltender Connor Hellebuyck doesn’t help things. He should be back with the team very early in the New Year, and Winnipeg needs to at least tread water in the West. They visit a Montreal team that still needs to tighten up the defensive game, though the young Habs are seemingly never out of a game.

Thursday, December 4th – 7:00 pm Eastern – SiriusXM 91
New York Rangers at Ottawa Senators

While we know the Rangers are road warriors so far this season, tonight they visit a Senators team that should have their captain and team fireplug back after missing a big chunk of the season.  Ottawa are better with forward Brady Tkachuk back in their lineup, even though the Sens didn’t fare all that badly during his absence.

Friday, December 5th – 10:00 pm Eastern – SiriusXM 91
Washington Capitals at Anaheim Ducks

Alex Ovechkin is scoring goals again, and this Capitals team knows how to batten down the hatches. But can they score, other than Ovie? They’ll need to in order to once again qualify for the postseason.  Washington visits a young Ducks’ team that is a real threat to finish in the top three in the Pacific Division…and first place isn’t a stretch.
