John Mayer performed an intimate concert at Stephen Talkhouse in Amagansett, New York — and listeners can hear the entire performance.
Sarkodie stirred up the audience at the SiriusXM studio (in a completely good way) with his dope reimagining of a Bob Marley favourite.
The Ghanaian rap great paid tribute to the music legend by performing “Stir It Up” with his fast-paced brand of rhymes. Sarkodie, performing during an exclusive special on SiriusXM’s Tuff Gong Radio, perfectly showed off his cross-genre skills, bringing down the house (that is, studio) with his Afrobeat rendition of a reggae classic.
Behind the turntables, Tuff Gong Radio’s DJ Brooke Bailey, the “Queen of Afrobeats,” kicked off the performance and danced behind Sarkodie throughout. In his reimagining, Sarkodie raps:
“Come let’s stir it up / Reminiscing how we fell in love / Back and forth you give me, I give you / Give and take and it’s fair enough / All I wanna have tonight is your lovin’ / Wanna wake up next to you in the morning / I can read it in your eyes that you want me / I wanna just… (“Stir It Up” chorus)”
Off Bob’s iconic Catch a Fire album (1973), “Stir It Up” is celebrated for its soothing melody and heartwarming lyrics. The song’s gentle call to love and unity resonates deeply with people from all walks of life.
Additionally, while at the studio, Sarkodie wowed us with a performance of his own song, “Country Side” feat. Black Sherif. The single is off his recently released 10-track album JAMZ.
