Sebastian Maniscalco is launching We Got Company, a new monthly SiriusXM series.
Andrew McCarthy, Rob Lowe, and the original MTV VJs will host “Brat Pack Weekend” on 80s on 8 (Ch. 8) in celebration of this summer’s hottest ’80s documentary, “BRATS.” Starting Friday, July 26, tune in to 80s on 8 as Andrew, who directed “BRATS,” and Rob handpick their favourite ’80s songs and provide behind-the-scenes stories about the documentary now streaming on Disney+.
“When we were making ‘Pretty in Pink,’” McCarthy says during the special, “John Hughes used to come to the set with a cassette recorder. And he’d have these little cassettes that he would just play. ‘Hey, guys, what do you think of this?’ And he did play. And he’d just play snippets of these songs. And we’d either give it a thumbs up or thumbs down. And a lot of those songs were and weren’t used in the soundtracks for his sampling he took of young people.”
MTV original VJs Mark Goodman, Nina Blackwood, and Alan Hunter will also share their Brat Pack memories and favourite songs throughout the weekend. See the full broadcast schedule below, and stream the special on the SiriusXM app after its premiere.
In addition to the song picks from Rob, Andrew, and the VJs, “Brat Pack Weekend” listeners will hear classics featured in the biggest Brat Pack movies, including “The Outsiders” (1983), “Class” (1983), “Sixteen Candles” (1984), “Oxford Blues” (1984), “The Breakfast Club” (1985), “St. Elmo’s Fire” (1985), “Pretty in Pink” (1986), “About Last Night” (1986), “Wisdom” (1986), “Blue City” (1986), and “Fresh Horses” (1988).
