On the latest episode of Everything is Broken With Kevin Drew, Kevin sat down with Toronto musician Brendan Phillip, where the conversation is tender, honest, and unfiltered.
“Brendan Philip‘s talents have always been evident in his creative pursuits as a vocalist and songwriter. He has released music independently for years, notably two EPs through the Toronto-based label Dine Alone Records. Being more focused on playful world-building, Brendan Philip ultimately defies a singular genre to present music that’s more reflective of the human experience we’re all having.”
In this episode, Brendan shared the unimaginable loss of his son, Harlow, and spoke to the quiet weight of shame and guilt that so often follows grief. He reflected on what it means to keep someone alive through language, in the way you tell their story, in the way you say their name, in the way you refuse to let memory fade.
