When Jimi Hendrix set rock and roll on fire, he took it literally. In one brilliant moment at the Monterey Pop Festival, he lit both his Stratocaster and the music world aflame. His legacy still burns brightly and can be experienced in full on The Jimi Hendrix Experience Channel, one of our new limited-run channels honouring Black History Month.
The Jimi Hendrix Experience Channel will immerse listeners into the world of the legendary rock guitarist and singer, who redefined music with his compositions on the electric guitar, with studio and live performances, demos, and original programming. The deep influence of Hendrix will be represented on My Hendrix Experience, a new show curated by Guest DJs who will share their love of Hendrix and his music. Additionally, the channel will feature music from artists that influenced Hendrix, as well as those that were influenced by him and have covered his music. The Jimi Hendrix Experience Channel will be available on the SiriusXM app in the Rock category. Channel 27 (Deep Tracks) will become The Jimi Hendrix Experience Channel from February 8th at 12 pm ET through February 14th.
This year, SiriusXM is launching SiriusXM Celebrates Black History Month to honour Black achievements, culture, and more through new limited-run channels and specialty programming. Limited-engagement channels saluting powerful, pioneering Black artists Aretha Franklin, Jimi Hendrix, and Miles Davis, as well as recognizing the sounds and artists from legendary record label Motown, will be available throughout the month of February.
