Saturday, May 16th – 7:10 pm Eastern
Chicago Cubs at Chicago White Sox
Okay, they’ve been under .500 for most of this season, but the Chicago White Sox are actually in a pennant race in the underperforming American League Central Division. Led by rookie slugging sensation Munetaka Murakami, the Chisox take on their crosstown rivals tonight at Wrigley Field. The Cubs are sitting in first place in the much tougher National League Central Division, where all five teams have more wins than losses next to their names. The Cubs are glad to be playing in the Friendly Confines, where most of their victories have been earned so far this 2026 season.
Sunday, May 17th – 1:40 pm Eastern
Cincinnati Reds at Cleveland Guardians
Another Central Division battle spanning the two leagues, as the Reds visit Cleveland. The hometown Guardians have been the only AL Central team to have more wins than losses, but only by a sliver. Every team in the AL Central is within spitting distance of Cleveland. Make your own jokes. In this Battle of the Buckeye State, the visiting Cincinnati nine are looking to close the gap on the four teams ahead of them. Even with a winning record, the Reds have spent more than enough time in last place in that grouping.
Monday, May 18th – 7:05 pm Eastern
Toronto Blue Jays at New York Yankees
Life’s a circus all the time with the Yankees, and the fun continues this season in the Bronx as the Bombers got off to a roaring start in the AL East, only to watch division mates Tampa Bay pass them for first. This evening, the Yanks tangle with a Blue Jays’ team that still hasn’t found what it’s looking for after a magical run this past October. The bats have gone cold in Toronto, and even in mid-May it looks more likely the good ship Jays has their sights set on the American League wildcard as opposed to defending their AL East regular-season crown. Last season, these two teams tied for top spot in that division with identical 94-68 records, but Toronto held the tiebreaker, and then took out the Yankees (in four games) in the second round of the post-season.
Tuesday, May 19th – 6:45 pm Eastern
New York Mets at Washington Nationals
Are the Mets the worst team in baseball? Actually, no. As of this writing, the Rockies, Angels, and Astros actually are worse. But that doesn’t mean much for New York, as they’re sitting in last place in the National League East, a country mile back of the front-running Atlanta Braves. The Nationals are flirting with .500, with a better chance of catching one of the National League wildcard invites, as opposed to catching Atlanta.
Wednesday, May 20th – 8:40 pm Eastern
Los Angeles Dodgers at San Diego Padres
Always a good time to be had when these two bitter Southern Californian rivals meet up anywhere. A quarter of the way through the regular season, the NL West is basically a two-team race. And guess which two teams those are? Yup. We have pennant fever in San Diego in late May. Beautiful Petco Park will be awash in Dodger Blue. Get yer tickets! Get yer red hots! This should be a great series.
Thursday, May 21st – 6:40 pm Eastern
Atlanta Braves at Miami Marlins
The high-flying Atlanta Braves wrap up their midweek series with the Marlins. The Braves are running away with the National League East, the only team that’s been above .500 for most of this season. The Marlins are in that group, closer to a wildcard than the rapidly disappearing Braves. Does anybody go to Marlins’ home games? Braves fans will make the trip!
Friday, May 22nd – 7:07 pm Eastern
Pittsburgh Pirates at Toronto Blue Jays
The most beautiful ballpark in the Majors (there are many candidates); too bad the legendary Pirates can’t make the same beautiful effort on the field. What would Pops say? The 2026 Pirates reside in the National League Central, the division where every team is above .500. Okay, so far so good. But will that translate into a post-season berth? They visit a Blue Jays team that is still looking to get their act into gear.
