Toronto takes on Baltimore as both teams come down to the wire in MLB AL East action

Baltimore Orioles at Toronto Blue Jays

It’s coming right down to the wildcard wire for these two American League East birds. The O’s sit in the AL East basement, but in this crazy 2026 season, that doesn’t mean they’re waiting for 2027 to begin. Baltimore still finds itself in the wildcard marathon, as do the Blue Jays. Except the Bluebirds didn’t help themselves any when they dropped two of three to the (Sacramento) A’s last week.  Can you say “must-win” series? Heck, they all are now. Even then, both these clubs will need help from other teams as they try to track down the Cleveland Guardians.

Philadelphia Phillies at Atlanta Braves

Two of the best teams in all of baseball (and top of the heap in the National League East) meet up in Georgia on this Sunday afternoon.  The Braves look to have another division title sewn up, while the visiting Phillies should land one of the NL wildcard spots.  Philadelphia slugger Kyle Schwarber is enjoying another stellar year at the plate, with a whopping 44 home runs (and counting) as of September 10^th.

Detroit Tigers at Toronto Blue Jays

Can the Blue Jays grab one of the three AL wildcard spots that are up -for-grabs? The time is now. The Tigers are well back in that race, but can play spoilers during the time remaining in the 2026 regular season.

Tuesday, September 15^th – 6:40 pm Eastern
Chicago White Sox at Cleveland Guardians

The pleasantly surprising White Sox head into Cleveland looking to hold off the Guardians in the battle for supremacy in the American League Central Division. Both clubs are barely above .500, but that may be good enough to grant both teams entry into the 2026 postseason. Both the Yankees and Red Sox, most likely wildcard teams, have much better records than either of these two teams on the field this evening. But that’s how the playoff system works. 

Wednesday, September 16^th – 7:40 pm Eastern
Atlanta Braves at Chicago Cubs

It’s been a very good 2026 regular season for both of these ballclubs. The Braves are at the top of the National League East, while the Cubs will most likely enter the postseason as a wild-card team. Chicago center fielder Pete Crow-Armstrong is having a monster season, with over 40 home runs.

Thursday, September 17^th – 12:35 pm Eastern
Milwaukee Brewers at Pittsburgh Pirates

Can the Milwaukee Brewers win their first-ever World Series this autumn, and erase memories of the close call back in 1982?  Sure, they’ve got the horses to go the distance, but it’s gonna be tough. Any league that also features the Braves, Cubs, and Phillies…not to mention the defending World Series champion Los Angeles Dodgers…will not be a walk in the ballpark. The Brewers have led the National League Central division for most of the season.  The Pirates? Well, they play in a gorgeous ballpark, and the bridges are lovely, and the sandwiches really are very good, and have you visited the Andy Warhol Museum yet? (If Pittsburgh resided in the AL Central, they’d be in the thick of a playoff race…but they don’t).

Toronto Blue Jays at Texas Rangers

The Blue Jays continue their push to the playoffs with a must-win series deep in the heart of Texas. The host Rangers sit in the weak AL West, meaning that even though they’re playing just under .500 ball, they still hold some cards that might get the former Senators into the 2026 postseason. Toronto is attempting to turn the same trick. Which team slips an ace from their sleeve?
