Toronto Maple Leafs at Colorado Avalanche
After playing the first four games on home ice (and going 2-and-2), the Maple Leafs’ 24/7 circus hits the road, and tonight they are in Denver to tangle with the Avalanche, one of the NHL’s marquee teams. 2026 first overall draft pick Gavin McKenna hadn’t accomplished much in his first three games in the NHL (the horror), but in game four he picked up his first NHL assist on a goal by John Tavares, and then lit the lamp as part of a furious Maple Leafs’ comeback 5-4 OT win on home ice against the Nashville Predators this past Tuesday. Colorado recently dropped a 3-2 decision on Winnipeg Ice, on a last-minute goal by Kyle Connor. Remember…it’s early.

Carolina Hurricanes at Philadelphia Flyers
It hasn’t been the greatest of starts to the 2026-27 regular season for the Flyers, who went winless in their first four games (0-2-2) for the first time since the 2013-14 campaign. The Philly attack was very much muted in those opening games, hence the less-than-stellar start. To help remedy the somnambulist attack, the Flyers signed free agent forward Michael Bunting to a one-year contract. The 31-year-old veteran played last season with the Predators and Stars. Tonight, Bunting and his new teammates face the defending Stanley Cup Champions, who many expect to rule the Metropolitan Division yet again this season. The Canes recently went into Montreal and emerged with a 6-4 victory, yet again beating their opponent from this spring’s Eastern Conference Final.

Vegas Golden Knights at Minnesota Wild
Jack Eichel is money-in-the-bank. For a second straight season, the Boston U. grad (2015 Hobey Baker Award winner) reached the 10-point mark this season before any other NHL player; only the fourth NHL’er to accomplish this feat since the Great Doubling of the League back in 1967-68. (Connor McDavid, Tyler Seguin, and Wayne Gretzky are the other names). A big part of why the Knights are off to a good start in the Pacific Division. They visit a Minnesota team that is expected to finish somewhere in the top three (or four…hello Utah) in the tough Central Division.
Tuesday, October 13th – 11:00 pm Eastern – SiriusXM 91
Boston Bruins at San Jose Sharks
They won their first two games (in OT), then dropped a 5-0 decision in Dallas, largely due to the absence of superstar captain Macklin Celebrini, the straw that stirs the San Jose drink. Celebrini didn’t play due to a lower-body injury. Tonight, the Sharks host the Boston Bruins, who many expect to take a step back this season, after being a 100-point wildcard team last season. Not sure anybody’s informed the Bruins about this.
Wednesday, October 14th – 9:30 pm Eastern – SiriusXM 91
Dallas Stars at Colorado Avalanche
Talk about a Clash of Titans! These two Central Division heavyweights both have their eyes on the Stanley Cup, but first ya gotta get there. Neither team could do that last season. Dallas dropped their first two games before dominating the Celebrini-less Sharks 5-0. The Avalanche won two of their first three games.
Thursday, October 15th – 9:00 pm Eastern – SiriusXM 167
Utah Mammoth at Edmonton Oilers
Will the Oilers give up a touchdown this evening? Will Devon Levi get the start in the Edmonton net? Can the Oilers outscore their defensive issues, and when will they get some key players back from injury? On the other side of the ledger, will the Mammoth finish in the top three in the top-heavy Central Division? As the hockey stick turns. Levi has looked steady between the pipes for the eternally netminding-challenged Oilers, making 28 saves in a recent 5-2 win in Anaheim. The Mammoth have read all the news clippings about how good they can be, and the young snow beasts believe they can challenge for top spot in the contentious Central Division.
Friday, October 16th – 10:00 pm Eastern – SiriusXM 91
Boston Bruins at Anaheim Ducks
The Bruins continue their West Coast swing, this time taking on the Ducks. Questions are circulating about whether either team will return to the playoffs this time around. Anaheim got out to a great start, picking up the full four points in their first two games of the new season. In their third game, the Ducks got out to a 2-0 lead against the visiting Edmonton Oilers, only to see McDavid, Draisaitl, Bouchard and crew score 5 second-period goals on 11 shots en route to a 5-2 Edmonton win
