NHL Games of the Week

MONTREAL, QC - FEBRUARY 10: Auston Matthews #34 of the Toronto Maple Leafs skates against Jeff Petry #26 of the Montreal Canadiens during the third period at the Bell Centre on February 10, 2021 in Montreal, Canada. The Toronto Maple Leafs defeated the Montreal Canadiens 4-2.

Saturday, February 13th – Montreal Canadiens at Toronto Maple Leafs
7:00 pm Eastern SiriusXM 91

IT’s the third meeting of the season between these storied rivals, and two times already this season the Maple Leafs have recorded wins against Montreal, and thus have begun to pull away in the North Division.  One reason for Toronto’s success has been a better commitment to team defence as opposed to last year.

Sunday, February 14th – Colorado Avalanche at Vegas Golden Knights
7:00 pm Eastern Sirius XM 91

Two of the top teams in the West collide on The Strip, and there will be no love found between these two rivals, with first place in the division up for grabs.  The Golden Knights are leading the pack, with the Avalanche right on their heels.

Monday, February 15th – Calgary Flames at Vancouver Canucks
10:00 pm Eastern SiriusXM 91

So far this season, the Canucks are one of the disappointing teams in the league, after having done very well in The Bubble this past summer.  While they still look to find their feet, the Flames also can play better, and with most people already handing North Division playoff spots to Toronto, and Montreal, the race is on for the last two post-season invites in the North Division.

Tuesday, February 16th – Washington Capitals at Pittsburgh Penguins
7:00 pm Eastern SiriusXM 91

Always a fun time when these two heated rivals meet up.  The Penguins have recently undergone a major managerial change, and it remains to be seen with major lineup changes are forthcoming.  As for Washington, so far so good, as they are one of the top teams in the tough East Division.

Wednesday, February 17th – Winnipeg Jets at Edmonton Oilers
10:00 pm Eastern SiriusXM 91

Is it all about Connor and Leon for the Oilers?  They both are worth the price of admission, but hockey is a team sport, and Edmonton fans keep waiting for the rest of the squad to contribute on a nightly basis.  Tonight they welcome in a Jets team that is pretty much keeping pace with Toronto, and Montreal, in the North Division.

Thursday, February 18th – New York Rangers at Philadelphia Flyers
7:00 pm Eastern SiriusXM 91

Not the start the Rangers envisioned back in January, but they’ve played a bit better recently, and tonight clash with a Flyers club that has their eyes on top spot in the East.  If only some of the Rangers’ gunners could get going, their fortunes would turn around.

Friday, February 19th – Chicago Blackhawks at Carolina Hurricanes
7:00 pm Eastern SiriusXM 91

Admit it, nobody thought the Blackhawks would be playing competitive hockey most nights they hit the ice.  But they are, and while it may be a stretch to suggest they’ll nab one of the four Central Division playoff spots after one month of action Chicago has to be included in that conversation.  The Hurricanes are already one of the top three teams in that bracket and look to close in on the top spot.
