2024 Fearless Playoff Predictions – Stanley Cup Final

Stanley Cup

After six months of hockey, followed by six weeks of intense playoff action, we’ve whittled down the 32 NHL teams to…

The Florida Panthers versus the Edmonton Oilers.

Having entered the NHL in 1993, the Panthers have twice been to the Stanley Cup Final (1996 and 2023) and have lost both times.

The (Alberta) Oilers were one of the original franchises in the short-lived but much-loved World Hockey Association. They took flight once joining the NHL in time for the 1979-80 season.  Edmonton has been to the Stanley Cup Final seven times, taking home the top prize five times (1984, 1985, 1987, 1988 and 1990). They haven’t been to the Final since 2006, losing in seven to the Carolina Hurricanes.

Russ Cohen and Shane Malloy lead the way with 12 of 14 playoff series correctly chosen, but this is also about the other points that can be earned. Russ enters the final playoff series for 2024 with a slim 1-point lead over Shane and Anthony Stewart.

Remember, this is all for fun. You would be advised not to take any of these picks to the bank or wherever you lay down your hard-earned money.

Keep in mind this is not a bracket challenge.  We have been submitting our predictions round-by-round.  Tune in to “Under Review” on SiriusXM NHL Network Radio Channel 91, every weekday at 11 am Eastern/8 am Pacific, for the latest Fearless Playoff Predictions updates.

REMEMBER: This is NOT a bracket challenge.  We have made subsequent picks for every round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.  There are no tiebreakers.  There can be a tie for top spot.  Deal with it.

46 points is the maximum number of points one can achieve. Mike Lippa set the record with 36 points back in 2016.  Steve Kouleas went 15-for-16 in series correctly chosen in 2022. Again, there is no tie breaker if leaders are tied in points.

  • 1 point for correctly choosing the winner of each 1st round series
  • 2 points for correctly choosing the winner of each 2nd round series
  • 2 points for correctly choosing the winner of each 3rd round series
  • 3 points for correctly choosing the 2024 Stanley Cup winner
  • 2 points for correctly choosing the 2024 Conn Smythe winner
  • 1 point for correctly choosing how long a series goes, but only if one also correctly picks that series’ winning team
  • 3 points for correctly choosing the 2024 Stanley Cup winner before the playoffs begin
