U2 returned to the Mount Temple Comprehensive School in Dublin, Ireland, on September 25, in honour of their 50th anniversary.
During a recent appearance on Shade 45’s “CTRL, ALT, D-Stroy,” Frank Miller shares why he almost didn’t bring “Sin City” to the big screen.
The legendary comic creator revealed he initially turned down filmmaker Robert Rodriguez’s proposal to adapt the acclaimed graphic novel because he was wary of Hollywood.
“I’ve been through the Hollywood game before, and I’m just afraid [there are] too many people involved,” he told D-Stroy.
Everything changed after Robert invited Frank to Texas to film a test scene.
“It was like seeing my book come to life,” he said. “I turned around in my chair and shook his hand and said, ‘I’m in, let’s go.’”
Frank also shared how Mickey Rourke instantly landed the role of Marv.
“He was already playing the part,” he said. “He came in as Marv to audition for it.”
During the conversation, Frank reflected on surviving his early years in New York City, drawing inspiration from rooftops across Manhattan, and explained why comics and hip-hop have always shared an “outlaw” spirit.
“Both forms are outlaw,” he said. “Both are way under the radar and are hitting people in ways they don’t expect.”
He also teased a new “Sin City” Western, revealing the story follows Marv’s great-great-great-grandfather, an Apache chief.
