SiriusXM is honouring Juneteenth, also known as Freedom Day or Emancipation Day, with exclusive specials dedicated to informing and educating listeners about the significance of the holiday while also celebrating Black voices across news, music, entertainment, business and beyond. Juneteenth is the longest-running nationally celebrated commemoration of the ending of slavery in the United States. On June 19, 1865, two and half years after the delivery of the Emancipation Proclamation, Black people in Texas learned that they were freed by executive decree. The observance of June 19 as the African American Emancipation Day has spread across the United States and beyond.

This timely special will be led by guest host Kenneth Shropshire, Faculty Director of Wharton’s Coalition for Equity and Opportunity.
