In honour of Women’s History Month (March) and International Women’s Day (Monday, March 8th), SiriusXM has teamed up with some of our leading ladies for exclusive channel takeovers where artists can expand on their female influences and empowerment in music. Listen starting this Friday, March th at 6 ET and over the weekend in the SiriusXM App.
Emily Haines is a Canadian singer-songwriter, best known as the frontwoman for the Canadian alternative band Metric. In her takeover on SiriusXM’s The Verge (CH. 173), she’ll play music from her other bands including Broken Social Scene and her solo project Emily Haines & The Soft Skeleton.
Canadian artist and creator iskwē will take over SiriusXM’s Indigenous Peoples’ Radio (CH. 165) to do what she does best; tell stories through her art. iskwē been nominated for Juno Awards, the Prism Prize and the SOCAN Songwriting Prize over the last few years. During her takeover, she’ll speak about her brand new album The Stars out on March 5th.
American song-writing outlaw Margo Price will take over SiriusXM’s North Americana (CH. 359) with what she calls her Ultimate Feminist Playlist. She’ll speak about her songwriting heroes like Emmylou Harris and Dolly Parton while reflecting on her challenges as a woman in the media spotlight.
Juno-award winning Canadian singer, songwriter and actress Carly Rae Jepsen will takeover SiriusXM’s newest pop channel Poplandia (CH. 754) with a playlist made of influential women in Canadian pop music. Her music has won awards in and out Canada, including Billboard and American Music Awards. For this takeover, she’ll discuss the journey of songs.
