When an icon dies, fans remember exactly where they were, what they were doing and how they heard the tragic news.
For Gotham actor Michael Chiklis, the moment he learned of David Bowie‘s death was especially poignant: That January day, he was singing the rocker’s 1975 track for his new album, Influence.
“I was in the studio recording vocal tracks for Fame and the word came down that David had passed away, and I just was devastated,” Chiklis said Monday on Conversations with Maria Menounos. “So this, unfortunately, went from being a cover tune to being a tribute, and I’m very proud of the way it turned out.”
Listen to the clip below for more on how the star managed to write and produce the project himself:
Conversations with Maria Menounos airs live weekdays at 1 pm ET on SiriusXM Stars (Ch. 109).
