NHL Games of the Week: Saturday, December 11th – Friday, December 17th
Saturday, December 11th – 10:00 pm Eastern SiriusXM 91
Carolina Hurricanes at Edmonton Oilers
The 2006 Stanley Cup Final rematch all these years later, both these teams are sitting pretty in their respective divisions. Though they’ve hit a bit of a speed bump recently, Carolina have been the model of consistency, winning both at home and on the road, while the Oilers have been better at home.
Sunday, December 12th – 7:00 pm Eastern SiriusXM 91
Nashville Predators at New York Rangers
They’ve been a pleasant surprise in the Central Division, and tonight the Predators look to keep up that pace as they visit New York City. The impressive Rangers are in the thick of the race for first place in the equally tough Metropolitan Division.
Monday, December 13th – 7:30 pm Eastern SiriusXM 91
Calgary Flames at Chicago Blackhawks
It’s been a sizzling first quarter for the Calgary Flames, who are already playing playoff style hockey under the tutelage of head coach Darryl Sutter. Chicago has played better since they switched bench bosses, but are in tough to grab a post-season spot in the Western Conference.
Tuesday, December 14th – 10:00 pm Eastern SiriusXM 91
Columbus Blue Jackets at Vancouver Canucks
There have already been a number of coaching changes in the NHL this season, and we’re still in 2021. Bruce Boudreau is now the head coach in British Columbia, and looks to lead his new charges to a playoff spot in the Pacific Division. The Blue Jackets have had a surprisingly positive start to the season, when many expected them to sink towards the bottom of the Metropolitan Division.
Wednesday, December 15th – 8:00 pm Eastern SiriusXM 91
Washington Capitals at Chicago Blackhawks
While the Capitals are more than Alex Ovechkin, it certainly helps that the legendary sniper is still filling the net with pucks, and adding to the attack with assists. Washington find themselves in a three-horse race for first in the Metropolitan Division.
Thursday, December 16th – 7:00 pm Eastern SiriusXM 91
Philadelphia Flyers at Montreal Canadiens
A matchup of two teams that have changed key management positions this season, a matchup of two teams performing at a level far below expectations, a matchup of two teams searching for an identity, and a matchup of two teams not currently in the 2022 playoff conversation. Flip a coin.
Friday, December 17th – 10:00 pm Eastern SiriusXM 91
Arizona Coyotes at Anaheim Ducks
The Ducks have arrived a bit early in terms of being a contender for a post-season spot in the Pacific. Can they maintain this pace? Tonight, they play host to a Coyotes team who hope to one day be where the Ducks are now.
