NHL Games of the Week: Saturday, March 12 – Friday, March 18

NHL Games of the Week
TORONTO, ON - MARCH 2: Auston Matthews #34 of the Toronto Maple Leafs takes part in warm up before playing the Buffalo Sabres at the Scotiabank Arena on March 2, 2022 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
Saturday, March 12th – 12:30 pm Eastern SiriusXM 91

St. Louis Blues at Nashville Predators

Most observers didn’t have the Predators making the playoffs this season, and while they’re not a lock to do that, Nashville are in control of their own post-season destiny. Tonight, they play host to a Blues team that is quietly putting up a good season of their own, seemingly locked into second place in the tough Central Division.

Sunday, March 13th – 3 pm Eastern SiriusXM 91

Toronto Maple Leafs at Buffalo Sabres

Yes, the Sabres are officially the home team for this outdoor game, and the city of Hamilton is close to Buffalo…but make no mistake about it, Southern Ontario is Maple Leaf country. The Leafs’ have been inconsistent of late, so the two points up for grabs in this game are not guaranteed. What is practically guaranteed is Toronto forward Auston Matthews scoring a goal…or two…or three.

Monday, March 14th – 7:30 pm Eastern SiriusXM 91

Arizona Coyotes at Ottawa Senators

Neither team will not be participating in the Stanley Cup Playoffs this spring, but recently both have been taking two points from playoff bound teams. Tonight, they meet up in Canada’s capital city, and it might not be all that long before the playoffs are a realistic destination.

Tuesday, March 15th – 9 pm Eastern SiriusXM 167

Detroit Red Wings at Edmonton Oilers

Will the Oilers make the playoffs this time around? They’re in the middle of an intense Western Conference dogfight for a spot. Not the same scenario for the Red Wings in the Eastern Conference, though the future looks very bright for Detroit.

Wednesday, March 16th – 7:30 pm Eastern SiriusXM 91

Boston Bruins at Minnesota Wild

Are the Bruins destined to be an Eastern Conference wildcard team? They’ve practically occupied one of the two wildcard slots since the beginning of the season. What about the Wild? Do they finish top three in the tough Central Division, slip down into one of the two Western wildcard spots, or miss the playoff cut completely?

Thursday, March 17th – 7:00 pm Eastern SiriusXM 91

New York Islanders at New York Rangers

St. Patrick’s Day at MSG…Rangers at home against their chief rival the Islanders…what’s not to like? Well, the Islanders haven’t liked their 2021-22 campaign so far, and with the post-season most likely out of reach this time around, it’s all about finishing on a positive note, and looking forward to September. Not the same case for the home team, who are fighting to remain in the top three in the Metropolitan Division.

Friday, March 18th – 7:00 pm Eastern SiriusXM 91

Washington Capitals at Carolina Hurricanes

Alexander Ovechkin keeps climbing up the All-Time Regular Season Goals Scored list (Gordie, and Wayne, are next), but more importantly, the Capitals appear to have found their winning ways again, and are looking to keep climbing up the Metropolitan Division standings. Tonight, they take on a Hurricanes team that probably can’t wait for the playoff to begin, as the Canes have been sitting in first place in the division for the longest time.
