NHL Games Of The Week: Saturday, March 20th to Friday, March 26th

NHL Games of the Week
UNIONDALE, NEW YORK - MARCH 09: Brad Marchand #63 of the Boston Bruins in action against the New York Islanders at Nassau Coliseum on March 09, 2021 in Uniondale, New York. New York Islanders defeated the Boston Bruins 2-1 in a shootout.
Saturday, March 20th – Chicago Blackhawks at Tampa Bay Lightning

4 pm Eastern SiriusXM 91

The surprise team of the season, so far, facing the defending Stanley Cup champions.  While the Lightning are a lock to make the post-season again, can Chicago duplicate their first-half magic?

Sunday, March 21st – Nashville Predators at Dallas Stars

8:30 pm Eastern SiriusXM 91

A tale of two teams that need to get going now if they still harbour any hopes of making the playoffs this May.  The Stars hold a number of games in hand, but they haven’t shown that they can take advantage of that.

Monday, March 22nd – Winnipeg Jets at Vancouver Canucks

10 pm Eastern SiriusXM 91

Many say the Jets are the second-best team in the North division.  Winnipeg believes it can be the best team, and tonight face a Canucks squad looking to claw their way back into the playoff picture.

Tuesday, March 23rd – New York Islanders at Boston Bruins

7 pm Eastern SiriusXM 91

So far the Islanders have had the Bruins’ number this season, but the loss of captain Anders Lee is a big one for Barry Trotz and crew.  Will they look to make a big trade to fill that gap?  Tonight, they tangle with a Boston team that has acknowledged they need to address concerns about a lack of secondary scoring, and the NHL trade deadline is not that far away.

Wednesday, March 24th – Edmonton Oilers at Montreal Canadiens

7:30 pm Eastern SiriusXM 91

An important game tonight, as both of these teams are not guaranteed a berth in the playoffs this spring, in addition to battling each other for an advantageous position in the contentious North division.

Thursday, March 25th – New York Rangers at Philadelphia Flyers

7 pm Eastern SiriusXM 91

Last time these two teams met up, back on March 17th, the Rangers destroyed the Flyers 9-0.  Are the Flyers destined to be the fifth team in the tough East Division?  In other words, will they be the best team on the outside, looking in at all the playoff fun once the regular season is over?  As for New York, while they weren’t expected to make the post-season this time around, are they progressing properly so that this time next year, they might? And can they still make a run at 4th spot this season? So many questions.

Friday, March 26th – Winnipeg Jets at Calgary Flames

10 pm Eastern SiriusXM 91

Maybe changing your head coach is the solution, as the Calgary Flames have certainly played better team defence under new bench boss Darryl Sutter.  Tonight’s clash with the Jets will be a good road test for the Flaming Horses.
