Saturday, May 15th – Boston Bruins at Washington Capitals

After four months of regular season hockey action, things kick up a gear tonight with the beginning of the 2021 Stanley Cup Playoffs.  The Bruins and Capitals both vied for first place in the tough East Division, but it was the Penguins that eventually took home that crown.  That leaves Washington vs. Boston to face each other in a best-of-seven opening-round series.

Sunday, May 16th – Tampa Bay Lightning at Florida Panthers

7:30 pm Eastern on SiriusXM 91

For the first time, the two NHL teams that call the state of Florida home will meet up in a playoff series.  Tampa are the defending Stanley Cup champions, but the upstart Panthers did very well against the Bolts this past regular season.

Monday, May 17th – Boston Bruins at Washington Capitals

The Bruins and Capitals hook up in D.C. for Game Two of their best-of-seven opening-round playoff series.

Tuesday, May 18th – New York Islanders at Pittsburgh Penguins

Are the Penguins for real, after taking the East Division crown this past season?  While the Islanders are built for the playoffs, can they get the timely offence they’ll need in order to take down Pittsburgh?  Tonight is Game Two of the best-of-seven opening round.

Wednesday, May 19th – Washington Capitals at Boston Bruins

The Capitals-Bruins series moves to Boston and features the return of longtime Bruin stalwart Zdeno Chara, now patrolling the blueline for Washington.  This is Game Three in the best-of-seven series.

Thursday, May 20th – Montreal Canadiens at Toronto Maple Leafs

7:30 pm Eastern on SiriusXM 91

For the first time since April 22nd, 1979, the Maple Leafs and Canadiens face each other in the post-season.  Toronto dominated the North Division this past regular season and held the upper hand over Montreal in their head-to-head meetings.  Toronto hasn’t won the Stanley Cup since 1967.  The Habs aren’t doing much better, as they haven’t won it all since 1993.

Friday, May 21st – Washington Capitals at Boston Bruins

Game Four of the Capitals-Bruins opening-round series goes tonight in Boston.  The winner of this series moves on to face the winner of the Pittsburgh Penguins-New York Islanders opening round battle.
