Our friends in River Town Saints are mourning the loss of one of their best friends and their bass player. In a Facebook post, the band announced the sudden loss of Daniel Di Giacomo:
Heaven gained the world’s funniest bass player today. As some of you may have already heard, Dan passed away last night unexpectedly. We’re all in shock, and trying to figure out the next steps as we go. Many of you have reached out with kind words and prayers and we can’t tell you how much this means to his family, and us – his band family. Anyone who had ever met Dan for more than 2 seconds knew that he was the funniest, wittiest and most genuine dude on earth. A heart of gold, wicked sense of humour, and killer hip-hop cred. To say we will miss him is beyond an understatement. Obviously we ask for privacy for Dan’s family at this time. If you are able to donate, a GoFundMe campaign has been set up to help his family with funeral costs. We’ll see you again brother – until then, keep holding down the low end up there.
Love RTS
I had the pleasure of hanging with Dan on many occasions over the last year, from a studio session at Trench Recordings to the Cavendish Music Festival. Bottom line; he was always a blast to be around and as you can tell from this photo at Cavendish, he was ALWAYS making those around him smile. Remembering the good times over here…Rest in Peace Dan. You will be so missed.
This week the Academy of Country Music Awards announced its 2019 nominees. It’s really nice to see some Canadian musicians on the list including High Valley who are up for New Group or Duo of the Year, and Lindsay Ell who’s up for New Female Artist of the Year! Lindsay Ell’s team made sure they surprised her to celebrate, d’aww:
Not only are they the #1 track on our weekly Most Wanted list with their new track “Keep It Simple” they also just premiered an amazing new video to go along with it! I can’t stop snapping…please make me stop.
The 91st Academy Awards (otherwise known as the Oscars to the common people haha) are this Sunday at 8pm live from The Dolby Theatre in L.A. Your ears are in for a treat this weekend on Live @ SiriusXM with The Reklaws. The brother-sister duo cover “Shallow” off the soundtrack for ‘A Star Is Born.’ The film is up for several awards including Best Picture and Best Original Song.
