The Edmonton Oilers welcome the Montreal Canadiens + more NHL Games of the Week

Montreal Edmonton NHL Games of the Week
Saturday, December 3rd – 7 pm Eastern – SiriusXM 91
Montreal Canadiens at Edmonton Oilers

Connor McDavid and the underachieving Oilers welcome Nick Suzuki and the overachieving Canadiens.  Edmonton was expected to battle for the top spot in the Pacific Division, while Montreal was expected to battle for the top draft pick in the upcoming Entry Draft.  Both of those predictions may indeed still come to pass, but a quarter of the way into the 2022-23 regular season, both clubs have defied expectations, though the Oilers have been playing better as of late.

Sunday, December 4th – 3 pm Eastern – SiriusXM 91
Anaheim Ducks at Winnipeg Jets

What a difference a year, and a head coaching change, make, as the Winnipeg Jets are enjoying life a lot more this time around. Tonight, they play host to a Ducks team that is currently rebuilding, though there are a number of talented young players wearing The Bill. And is Connor Hellebuyck back to being one of the best goaltenders in the NHL?

Monday, December 5th – 7 pm Eastern – SiriusXM 91
Vegas Golden Knights at Boston Bruins

A meeting of two of the top teams in the National Hockey League, as both the Knights and Bruins have been at or near the top of their respective Conferences seemingly from day one this season. Both teams are well balanced, well coached, so this should be a great game.

Tuesday, December 6th – 7 pm Eastern – SiriusXM 91
Detroit Red Wings at Tampa Bay Lightning

After falling short in their quest for a third straight Stanley Cup Championship this past spring, the Lightning looks to qualify for the playoffs, having not missed the cut since 2017. The Red Wings haven’t been in the spring tournament since 2016 (losing to Tampa in five) and haven’t won a playoff round since 2013.

Wednesday, December 7th – 10 pm Eastern – SiriusXM 91
New York Rangers at Vegas Golden Knights

While the resurgent Golden Knights are battling for first in the Pacific Division, the Rangers have found themselves down in the wildcard position over in the Eastern Conference and are looking for more consistent play and more offensive contributions from their bottom six.

Thursday, December 8th – 7 pm Eastern – SiriusXM 91
Los Angeles Kings at Toronto Maple Leafs

After an underwhelming start to the season, the Maple Leafs have returned to their winning ways, and tonight face a visiting Kings’ side that finds themselves in the middle of the playoff hunt in the Pacific Division. Both clubs bowed out in seven games in the first round of the post-season this past May.

Friday, December 9th – 7:00 pm Eastern – SiriusXM 91
New York Islanders at New Jersey Devils

Two of the top clubs in the topsy-turvy Metropolitan Division go at it tonight in Newark. It’s also a battle of two teams that missed the playoff cut this past spring. While many expected the Islanders to be back in the running for a post-season invite this time around, it’s been the rapid ascent of the young Devils’ squad that may rank as thee pleasant surprise story so far in this 2022-23 NHL season.
