Troubleshooting

SiriusXM radios have been designed to provide you with trouble-free performance without the need for servicing. If your radio does not appear to be functioning properly, please try these helpful troubleshooting tips. Please note, messages displayed on your SiriusXM radio screen may vary slightly from what’s noted below.

For radios

If you see this on the display:Try this:
No Signal or Acquiring SignalMake sure the SiriusXM antenna is mounted on the outside of the vehicle and that there are no obstructions blocking its view. If you are parked in an underground garage, you should receive a signal after leaving the garage.
Antenna or Antenna Not DetectedMake sure the SiriusXM antenna cable is firmly and securely plugged into the cradle. Make sure the SiriusXM antenna cable is not bent or broken. Turn your SiriusXM radio off, then on, to reset this message. If using a Plug & Play or Portable Radio, remove the radio from its docking cradle and then reinstall to attempt to reset this message.
Off AirThe channel you’ve selected is not currently broadcasting. Tune to another channel.
LoadingYour SiriusXM radio is acquiring audio or program information from the satellite. This message usually goes away in a few seconds.
UpdatingSiriusXM is updating your radio with the latest encryption code. Wait until the update is complete. This message may also display when you are trying to tune to a channel that is unavailable or blocked.
No program information, such as artist name or song title, exists.
If this happens:Try this:
No audio when listening through an FM radioCheck to make sure your XM radio and your car radio are tuned to the same FM frequency.
No audio using Aux CableMake sure all of the cables between your SiriusXM radio and your stereo system are connected firmly and securely. Make sure the FM mode in the SiriusXM radio is turned Off. Make sure host radio is on auxiliary input mode.
Audio fades or has static when listeningCheck to make sure all cables are connected firmly and securely. If the problem persists, it may be interference from another FM channel. Refer to the “Find an FM Frequency” section in your SiriusXM radio’s user guide. Find the best FM channel by using our Frequency Finder.
Audio sounds too softRaise or lower the FM audio level until the sound quality improves. Refer to the “Setting the Line Out Level” section in your SiriusXM radio’s user guide.
No song title or artist name is displayedThe information may not be available or updates may be in progress.
Your SiriusXM radio turns off unexpectedlyIf your radio has a sleep timer, and it is set, your SiriusXM radio will turn off after the selected length of time. Turn off the Sleep Timer feature.

For mobile applications

If you see this on the display:Try this:
Data Connection LostThe app doesn’t have a fast enough data connection to support audio playback. Try again later or on a different network.
Continue ListeningTo minimize data charges on your phone, if you have been listening for 90 minutes without changing channels, the app will check to ensure you want to continue listening in case you have left the app playing by mistake. Confirm to keep listening.
You are logged in elsewhereYou may listen to SiriusXM Internet Radio on only one device at a time using the same username and password. If you have logged into another location using the same username and password, log out to use the SiriusXM app.
Service Temporarily UnavailableIf you encounter this message something is preventing the application from connecting to SiriusXM. This could be because we are updating our system in which case service should return shortly thereafter. If this issue persists for more than two hours it is probably best to attempt restarting, logging out and back in again, or even reinstalling the app.
System ErrorThis message usually means that the app is able to connect to SiriusXM but can’t seem to respond properly. If you experience this issue, it is probably best to attempt restarting, logging out and back in again, or even reinstalling the app.

If this happens:Try this:
The SiriusXM mobile app stops playing audioThe network connection on your computer or mobile device can sometimes be lost, interfering with audio performance. Audio should automatically restart once the network connection is regained, but if you have been out of coverage for a significant period of time you may need to re-select the channel (or select an alternate channel) to continue listening.
You receive a notice to update the SiriusXM app on your deviceTo minimize data charges on your phone, if you have been listening for 90 minutes without changing channels, the app will check to ensure you want to continue listening in case you have left the app playing by mistake. Confirm to keep listening.

Updating the application is quick, easy and free. When you receive an update notice on your mobile device, simply follow the instructions on your device, or you can download the updated SiriusXM Internet Radio application from the following sites:

iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch users can download the application by going to the iTunes App Store and searching “SiriusXM Canada Internet Radio”

Android users can download the application from the Google Play store.

Updated applications for each smartphone model may not be released simultaneously. Do not update your current application until you receive an update notice on your mobile device.
The app asks to determine my locationThe SiriusXM Internet Radio application has the ability to deny access to location-restricted programming, primarily live sports events, if your physical location is outside of Canada, the United States or Puerto Rico. If you have disabled location services on your device, you will need to enable them prior to accessing and listening to location-restricted programming. You will only be required to do this if and when you attempt to listen to location-restricted programming.
