Many of the top players in the National Hockey League are in Las Vegas this weekend for the annual NHL All-Star Game. Coverage begins at 1 pm Eastern, leading up to the on-ice action at 3 pm Eastern on SiriusXM NHL Network Radio Channel 91 and on the SiriusXM app.

Carolina Hurricanes at Toronto Maple Leafs

The second half of the 2021-22 NHL regular season gets underway this evening with two games in the province of Ontario, including this matchup of two of the battleship teams in the Eastern Conference. Everything has been going right for the Hurricanes so far, and that includes the additional of goaltender Freddie Andersen, who most recently plied his trade with…the Toronto Maple Leafs. As for his old team, they has recently shown that they are never out of games, not with the impressive array of firepower at their disposal.

Vegas Golden Knights at Edmonton Oilers

This Pacific Division battle features a Vegas team that is pretty much a lock to make the playoffs this spring, and an Oilers team that is in the middle of a dogfight for that same opportunity. The question with the Golden Knights is whether or not they finish first in the division, and when will they get the services of recently acquired forward Jack Eichel. The many questions with Edmonton centre around goaltending, and team depth, and how to keep superstar forwards Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl still believing in the future of this franchise.

Detroit Red Wings at Philadelphia Flyers

Neither of these teams will be printing playoff tickets this time around, but they appear to be franchises headed in opposite directions. The young Red Wings have made strides so far this season, and that experience will only help them moving forward next campaign. The same cannot be said for the Flyers, a team many hockey observers expected to be in the Eastern Conference wildcard race. Now the question is do they trade star forward Claude Giroux on, or before, the March 21^st NHL trade deadline, and what other changes have to be affected for Philadelphia to once again become a contending team?

Carolina Hurricanes at Boston Bruins

The Hurricanes are one of the top teams in the entire NHL, and tonight visit a Bruins team that looks like they’re a shoo-in to at least grab an Eastern Division wildcard invite. The question with Boston is do they have enough to win a playoff round, or two, this spring? Many Bruins’ fans would like to see the team add some grit, and toughness, to a talented squad. And is Tuukka Rask back to being a top notch netminder?

Friday, February 11^th – 8:30 pm Eastern SiriusXM 167

Winnipeg Jets at Dallas Stars

A key game in the second week of February, as both of these teams are chasing a playoff spot in the tough Central Division. And from the looks of things, the wildcard route appears to be the only door into the post-season party. The Jets have been wildly inconsistent this season, to the point head coach Paul Maurice willingly walked off into the sunset. Many Stars’ fans have been clamouring for head coach Rick Bowness to do the same thing in Texas, as the Stars haven’t been able to put it all together enough to comfortably occupy a wildcard spot. The two points for the win tonight are crucial for both team’s flickering playoff aspirations.
