It’s been a long time since these two storied rivals met up for a hockey game, though this time around, the Canadiens are a shadow of their former selves, while the Bruins are in a real dogfight for one of the Atlantic Division playoff spots.

Many pegged this to be the 2022 Stanley Cup Final, and it still could be. Trouble is, Vegas have run into a raft of injuries to key players, and after a month of action are stuck in the middle of the 7-team playoff traffic jam the surprising Pacific Division has become. Tonight, they put out the welcome mat for the Canes, who have been first in the tough Metropolitan almost since day one, but can’t afford to let up with a number of teams hot on their heels.
Colorado Avalanche at Vancouver Canucks
One day, the Colorado Avalanche will be able to put out on the ice the roster they hoped to use when this season got underway. Injuries have been a large factor in keeping the Avs down in the lower rent district of the competitive Central Division. They are in Vancouver this evening, to tangle with a Canucks squad that are still looking to round into form.
New York Rangers at Toronto Maple Leafs
25-year-old Igor Shesterkin is one of the early favourites for the Vezina Trophy as top netminder in the National Hockey League. There is still a long way to go before votes are tabulated, but he’s been the MVP on a Rangers’ team that has gotten off to a surprisingly good start. Forward Chris Kreider, and reigning Norris Trophy winning defenceman Adam Fox have also made significant contribution to the Rangers. As for Toronto, their Core Four players have stepped up recently, and have ignited the Maple Leafs’ potent offence.
Winnipeg Jets at Vancouver Canucks
While the Canucks look to get everybody going, the Jets are in the mix for top spot in the contentious Central Division. Forward Kyle Connor continues to rack up the points, and finds himself in the top echelon of NHL scorers early on.
