The Wild battle the Avalanche + more NHL Games of the Week

NHL Games of the Week
DENVER, COLORADO - FEBRUARY 26: Nathan MacKinnon #29 of the Colorado Avalanche skates against Matt Boldy #12 of the Minnesota Wild at Ball Arena on February 26, 2026 in Denver, Colorado.

Saturday, March 7th – 12:30 pm Eastern – SiriusXM 91
Washington Capitals at Boston Bruins

This is a play-in game in the tight Eastern Conference. Wanna play hockey past the middle of April? Start piling up the wins now. With the standings being as tight as they are, both the Caps and B’s could finish in the top three in their respective division, or claim a wildcard invite to the post-season party…or miss the party altogether. Yeah, the games matter right now. No dog days anymore for most of the teams in the NHL.

Sunday, March 8th – 2:00 pm Eastern – SiriusXM 91
Minnesota Wild at Colorado Avalanche

A meeting of two of the true Battleship teams in the entire league, this game could go a long way in determining who claims top spot in the Central Division. For months, it appeared that the Avalanche had that honour sewn up, but both the Wild and Stars refuse to go away. All three of those teams will make the Stanley Cup Playoffs this April; who they play in the opening round is yet to be determined.

Monday, March 9th – 9:00 pm Eastern – SiriusXM 91
Ottawa Senators at Vancouver Canucks

A season to forget for the Canucks. A season to remember for the Senators? They made the playoffs last time around, only to be punted out in the first round by the Toronto Maple Leafs. This time around, the Sens are ahead of their provincial rivals, but they’re going to have to have an impressive finish to their campaign in order to get back to the post-season.

Tuesday, March 10th – 10:00 pm Eastern – SiriusXM 91
Edmonton Oilers at Colorado Avalanche

Back in October, many may have tabbed this matchup to be a preview of the Western Conference final.  Here we are in early March, and the Oilers find themselves in a real dogfight in the underperforming Pacific Division. They could finish first in the group (which the Oilers haven’t done since 1987), or they could miss the playoff cut altogether. Tonight, they face a tough, impressive, talented Avalanche team that believes it’s Stanley Cup or bust this spring.

Wednesday, March 11th – 7:30 pm Eastern – SiriusXM 91
Montreal Canadiens at Ottawa Senators

These two rivals are both hoping to once again punch their ticket to the playoffs, though last April, both teams were done after one round. This time around, Montreal has flirted with finishing as high as second place in the tough Atlantic Division, while Ottawa are looking for playoff daylight in the form of one of the Eastern Conference wildcard spots.

Thursday, March 12th – 7:00 pm Eastern – SiriusXM 91
Washington Capitals at Buffalo Sabres

Yes, Virginia (and New York State), the Buffalo Sabres are so close to locking up a spot to make the 2026 Stanley Cup Playoffs as you can get. They won’t celebrate until they clinch, which would be their first postseason appearance in a decade and a half. And they won’t be satisfied just being there; this Buffalo team truly believes they can do a lot of damage once the playoffs get underway. The visiting Capitals aren’t enjoying the same success as they had twelve months ago, but they’re gunning for the playoffs, and if they get there, they should be a tough out.

Friday, March 13th – 8:00 pm Eastern – SiriusXM 91
Edmonton Oilers at St. Louis Blues

The Blues were one of the disappointing teams this season, and as a result, roster changes were inevitable. They welcome an Oilers team that can certainly pump in the goals, but can they keep them out of their net? Edmonton brass are well aware of these shortcomings, and the addition of defensive defenceman Connor Murphy speaks to this. The 32-year-old right-shot rearguard had been a big part of the penalty kill while with the Chicago Blackhawks.
