Saturday, May 9th – 3:07 pm Eastern
Los Angeles Angels at Toronto Blue Jays
The weather in Toronto has been unseasonally chilly for most of this spring, and that accurately reflects how chilly the Blue Jays’ bats have been so far this season. As a result, the Jays can’t get going; thus, a couple of wins have been followed by a trio of losses, as exemplified by the recent sweep at the hands of the Tampa Bay Rays. This afternoon, the Jays face an Angels’ squad that is off to an even less impressive start, though the weakness of the American League West division means they aren’t that far off the pace.
Sunday, May 10th – 1:35 pm Eastern
Tampa Bay Rays at Boston Red Sox
So far in the American League East, the only two teams that appear to be interested in playing good baseball have been the New York Yankees and the Tampa Bay Rays. Tonight, the Rays are in Boston to face a Red Sox team that recently underwent a complete coaching change. The Sox and Jays have taken turns occupying the division basement.
Monday, May 11th – 10:10 pm Eastern
San Francisco Giants at Los Angeles Dodgers
Ho Hum. The Dodgers are good again. No, the Dodgers are damn good again! But their Southern California neighbours are close. The San Diego Padres are keeping pace with the defending World Series Champions. As for the visiting Giants, it’s the opposite for them. They’ve been sitting in the NL West Division basement for a while, and as good as the Dodgers and Padres are, a National League wildcard will be the only path to the playoffs for SF. Maybe. Don’t count on it.
Tuesday, May 12th – 7:07 pm Eastern
Tampa Bay Rays at Toronto Blue Jays
Must win games in mid-May? Not for the Rays, but maybe so for the Jays. Conventional baseball wisdom is to keep things close until the end of May, then make your move. Tampa Bay is keeping close to the Yankees for top spot in the AL East. Toronto are cold, has to contend with some key injuries, and as a result, it’s been an unremarkable start to the season for the Blue Jays. A win in this series would be a step in the right direction.
Wednesday, May 13th – 6:35 pm Eastern
New York Yankees at Baltimore Orioles
Okay, Aaron Judge is on fire again. The Yankees have roared out to the best start in the American League, with only division rivals Tampa Bay keeping close. The Orioles were a major disappointment last season, and eight weeks into the 2026 campaign, the O’s are fighting to get back to .500. Only the tepid start of the Blue Jays and Red Sox has kept Baltimore out of last place.
Thursday, May 14th – 7:40 pm Eastern
Kansas City Royals at Chicago White Sox
How about rookie Munetaka Murakami? The White Sox’s rookie from Japan is on fire! He’s challenging perennial HR leader Aaron Judge and Houston’s Yordan Alvarez for the major league long ball crown. Murakami recently became the 13th MLB rookie to hit a homer in five straight games. Has that translated into wins for the perennially bad White Sox? The Chisox are still fighting to get to the .500 mark, but that’s a vast improvement over recent seasons.
Friday, May 15th – 6:45 pm Eastern
Toronto Blue Jays at Detroit Tigers
These two old rivals meet up in Motor City. Now, in different divisions, the Jays and Tigers used to have epic battles in the AL East, particularly in the final week of the 1987 season. But that’s ancient history. These days, Detroit are battling for first place in the tepid AL Central. As of this writing, every team in that division are under .500. No truth to the rumour that the Blue Jays have petitioned to move to the AL Central.
